Windmills in solitary fields. Cacti and unobtrusive wild bushes playing across the dry ground. Two, down to earth and loving families united under a Karoo sky to pull together the most beautiful wedding they could imagine for their beloved children, Sybrand and Mariska. To say that every detail had been thought of would be an injustice and understatement. Aside from ensuring it was an aesthetic feast, the day overflowed with sentiment and genuinely heartfelt moments. Things like Sybrand being the third generation to wear the wedding band he has now inherited. Things like the groom making, bottling and registering a special Cap Classique to give the lovely Mariska as his wedding gift to her. Since both the bride and groom are expert wine makers, a surprise like this left her in tears! I’ve wondered since the day of this wedding how I would find the words to portray all that went on in my heart and mind as I witnessed these amazing people begin their married lives together … right now? I’m still wondering. When it comes to weddings such as this one, words fail and desert me. How can you describe what a late afternoon in Beaufort West feels like, or the way I kept noticing Sybrand looking over at Mariska every chance he got? How does one pack all of the adventure and emotion and love of hearts full to bursting into imagery?  I’d say the best thing you can do, is get comfy, grab some coffee and let these pictures transport you back in time to one of my all time favourite wedding day’s! Sybrand en Mariska, you guys have been so patient in waiting for this blog post and I hope that these few pictures shown here will be enough to tide you over until the full catalogue arrives!
