Lucian and Mishkaat are a couple who truly refuse to let any circumstances get them down, and inspired me with their amazing ability to pick up and carry on when things didn’t go according to plan. They booked me more than a year ago for their wedding at the 12 Apostles Hotel in Camps Bay. The dream was of an intimate wedding overlooking the ocean as they said their vows, and a couple shoot full of sand on the beach. The morning of March 3oth however, made it clear to all of us that this wasn’t going to go as planned. When I first arrived at the 12 Apostles, their coordinator told me that they had checked the wind speed in the ceremony area … and it had reached 120km’s an hour!!! This being what it was, everything was moved inside, and their beach wedding became an indoor wedding. Nonetheless, Lucian and Mishkaat smiled all day long and they could not have been surrounded by a more loving, warm and excited group of family and friends:) As I watched them open their dance floor, with the wind raging against their marquee, their absolute adoration for one another was unmistakable. I’m pretty convinced that they were so lost in the joy of their union, and the excitement about their first little addition to the family (check out the sneaky second party in Mishkaat’s portraits!), that their big day was perfect exactly as it was! I for one, could not have been happier to be a part of it (joined by my awesome-sauce assistant Jessica Barnard) and I have no doubt that Lucian, Mishkaat and the little baby bump are looking at a beautiful and glorious future! Thank you guys, for inviting me to be a part of this incredible day, all my love xxx
