Every time I blog a post on my website, I take a little time to sit down and think about the event that I’ve recently documented. Usually I have just about as much to say about them, as I have pictures to post. Today however, has been a little different. I find myself (of course) thinking back to Michael and Minkies festive Bonnivale wedding, but even more than that, I’ve not been able to forget the words in one of the emails Minkie sent me before their big day. I feel as though she’s said everything that anyone could need to know about this day in one simple paragraph:
“The wedding is going to be relaxed and hopefully unpretentious as I don’t want to stress about small details on the day. I am doing a mint green and natural type palette with lots of bunting and bucket loads of fairy lights! I am renting a dress as I had to go and fall in love with the most expensive one I could find (grrr, typical) but it is exquisite!!! It is a Pronovias, La Sposa dress with a mermaid cut and feathers on the bust that has some major poof at the bottom with soft layers and folds in tulle (or something, I don’t watch enough TLC). I am going to struggle to hand it back. The man I am marrying is the best part though; he is hilarious, kind and down-to-earth. He makes me better and we can laugh about my awkwardness and his frugality without fear of offending. We have been dating for almost half a decade now and I am really excited to be a little unit soon.”
When I see emails like this, and couples who know exactly what the hierarchy of importance on their wedding day is, I’m reminded once again of how little the details matter and that the single most important thing taking place on a wedding day is the union between two people who have found their special human in one another. Mike and Minkie could not have their priorities more in order, and this simple fact is the most radiant and beautiful part of their big day. This all being said though, I can’t deny that they had one seriously PRETTY day! So please, for all of the secondary gorgeousness that took place on the 4th of January, view a little further lovelies! I can guarantee that this one is not to be missed! All my love, Claire x
