I’m so happy to at long last be sharing these images with you (even if newborn baby Ella beat me to the punch by being born before I’d finished editing;). Photographing couples and families is something I love with all my heart, but it has to be said that there is something especially secretive and mystical about photographing both a couple and family, where one of the members is still unknown to everyone except her parents. I think those last few weeks of a pregnancy, must be some of the most fascinating and impatient that any couple could fathom, and it was a true honour to be invited to be a part of it. You will have seen Roberta’s styled maternity shoot a few months back over here, but she really also wanted to do something relaxed and casual with her beloved Ray. These two are so causal and down to earth, and they wanted some memories that would reflect that. We settled on the exquisite location of Clifton beach in Cape Town, but as all residents of the Mother City know … our early summer wind has very little regard for one’s plans! Please enjoy these pictures and celebrate in the new and precious little life that we documented here a few Sunday’s back.
