Babylonstoren is renowned the world over. Any celebration held on this gorgeous farm is bound to be a stunner. Yet somehow, despite knowing this, I was still left speechless when I walked into Renier and Helen’s December wedding! The only thing I could think of was, how is it possible to raise the bar when you start at perfection?? Somehow, these two did. I’d met Renier and Helen only once before their big day, when we did their engagement shoot in Franschoek. I was immediately drawn to the relaxed and happy way they have about them, and knew their day would reflect both this, and their mutual love for travel, good food and attention to detail. Man, was I right! Helen is an avid foodie, and has her own blog on the subject. This inspired their decision to use a radish motif on their wedding stationary, and also, real radishes and fresh mulberries in the floral arrangements and as the boutonniere’s for the gentlemen! Not one aspect of detail was left unattended to for this magical celebration, and I found myself both excited to see what the next portion of the day held, as well as sad to leave what we’d just experienced! Following dinner, guests were even ushered to a second, surprise hall, which had been converted into a “dessert buffet room” where they were treated to mounds of sweet treats and a cake by the talented team at Edible Art! All in all, I’m feeling just as overwhelmed by my recollections as I did on the day I witnessed the reality of this surrounding me. To be honest though, aside from the monumental aesthetic beauty of this wedding, at it’s core was still the simplest and most authentic beauty. That of Renier and Helen’s devoted love to one another. The beauty and truth of which was the guiding force for one of the most incredible wedding’s I’ve yet to be a part of, and an inspiration to everything that a true wedding day should be. Reiner and Helen, I can’t wait any longer to share your photo’s with you … please go ahead and enjoy reliving your day! All my love, Claire xxx
