Spring is upon us, and with that … my very first wedding of the new summer season! I’ve written, and rewritten this post so many times, and each time I’m set back yet again by my inability to find the right words to paint the picture of what was going on in my heart on this special day last month. The bride Mandi, is my mom’s husbands daughters daughter (yeah … try wrap your head around that one;) which means that this incredible celebration was not only beautiful and an unspeakable joy to photograph, but it was also my very own family. Man … I’m so in love with these people I could cry. Stephan, Mandi and their gorgeous son Evan flew out from their home in New Zealand to tie the knot in their home town of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. The intimate celebration (planned almost entirely by my sussie, Mandi’s mum, Antoinette) was a buzz of family participation and enthusiasm, from Eon playing the organ, to Dickie and Martiens driving the Pontiac down from Graaff Reinet, to Caroline being photographer’s (desperately needed) assistant, and can-do bridesmaid (Lauren) never conceding to any of the minor emergencies that occur in the last 24 hours before a wedding! Please just go look through the pictures before I give myself an aneurism from reciting the passion and love I have for my family … they’ll tell Stephan and Mandi’s fairytale day story far better than I could anyway!
