On Friday the 15th of November, the very international Spires family congregated in Hermanus for a family reunion, a portrait session, and apparently … a whole lot of fun in what was to become one of the worst storms I’ve ever experienced in the Cape! After months of planning our special afternoon together and the family coming together from as far as The United States, Australia and Johannesburg – the heavens opened up and showered us with a little rain and a monumental task. Documenting nine energetic kids … in an antique shop! The original plan having been for the children to play together in the sunshine, we all made do with the conditions dealt by the day. In the end, the chaotic conditions made this one of the most memorable shoots I’ve had to date, and I wouldn’t change the recollection of all these moments for anything:) Spires family, thank you with all my heart for inviting Caroline and myself into your reunion for an afternoon. Families like yours, where the love and care for one another can literally span the globe the way it does, are one of the biggest things that are right with the world today and one of the greatest gifts you have to bestow on your collective nine children. All my love, Claire xxx

These pics came out wonderfully! Definitely captured the family fun and shenanigans of the day =)
And I didn’t realise how many of the kids had piercing blue eyes.
Absolutely love these pics!!!! So much fun – too beautiful for words.
That’s me!
